Everybody has a favorite store, but for a little girl named Brayden, Target isn’t just a store… it’s .
Brayden’s aunt Rikki Jackson says her niece is “obsessed” with the red-dot retailer. When it came time to plan her 8th birthday party she shocked her family with an odd request: could she host her birthday party inside a Target store? It took a little finagling, but the answer was yes!Instagram
“When she asked for a Target party, our heads were spinning because we were like, first, how do you even have a party in a store and second, what are we doing for entertainment?” Rikki wondered . After getting the green light from Albert, the manager of the Target at Camp Creek Marketplace in East Point, Georgia, the pieces of the birthday party puzzle began to fall into place.
Brayden and her friends were all given a Target uniform to wear, and the birthday girl paired her red polo with a sparkly matching sweater purchased at, you guessed it, Target! Party attendees were also given their own name tags and a walkie talkie to communicate with one another while in the store. They held the party early in the morning when the store was at its quietest.Instagram
During the party the kids did a scavenger hunt where they had to locate specific items in the store. Guests searched the shelves for items like a “Frozen” character, an apple, and a book with a specific theme. Since they were also honorary employees for the day, each child had to go back and return their items where they found them at the end of the game. That’s a great lesson, isn’t it?
And of course, they enjoyed some Icees and other treats in the food court. They even made a special Target cake for Brayden’s big day!Instagram
As party favors, each child also received a Target gift card to buy themselves a special treat in the store. The best part for Brayden was trying her hand at using the price scanner so she could check her friends out after they shopped. Looks like she took her job very seriously.Twitter
“It was seriously such a blast and we can’t thank the Campcreek Target and Albert, the manager, enough,” Rikki said. “They were so welcoming and accommodating. Brayden hasn’t stopped talking about it!”
Rikki shared her niece’s party pictures and videos on Twitter and it all went seriously viral. We won’t be surprised if this becomes the start of a new trend, because who doesn’t love Tar-jay?Instagram
What a cool idea, and it was so nice of the store to allow it! We are sure this is one birthday party these kids will never forget.
